Stand Strong with Kids Fundraiser
My Volunteer Experience with Future Possibilities for Kids
To begin, I am asking for your help and support to help with my Stand Strong with Kids fundraiser today. Over the past 6 months, I volunteered with Future Possibilities for Kids (FPK ) which is an organization that provides leadership opportunities for children from the age of 9-12. FPK has helped over 5,000 kids in under-served communities and the programs are free.
How You Can Help
I was a KidCoach and spoke weekly to my Kid on the phone. This connection was important especially during these changing and uncertain times. My Kid was shy at first but she wanted to build a local garden to help the homeless animals in her neighbourhood. By the end of our program, my Kid was more confident and was sharing her goal with her friends and family.

Why You Should Volunteer with FPK
It is integral to provide kids with support and resources, especially during their middle years. From my experience, I was very impressed with the program! We had monthly activity days which were a great opportunity for kids to share their goals and meet other coaches. The days were also filled with fun activities and snacks. I was excited to help my kid at a young age and discuss ways to create meaningful goals.
FPK provides you with training and resources such as activity books that are composed of weekly activities to complete with your kid. It taught me how to help children thinking creatively and outside the box.
Other Benefits from Volunteering with FPK
- Opportunities to network with people who have an entrepreneurial mindset
- To give back to the community
- Helping kids at a young age build their creative and resilient mindset
- In addition, there are multiple training sessions and touchpoints with your Team Leader
Differences FPK is Making
To elaborate, please read about FPK’s mission below:
“We will do more so that children can:
- Use their voice and actions to make their communities stronger
- Connect with supportive and encouraging adults and community members
- Have more opportunities to build their confidence and sense of purpose
This is our contribution to this very important and crucial age for children. We are also inviting others to provide more opportunities and to take action to rally for increased support for children in their middle years. Doing this now will see these children flourishing for years to come.
The Stand Strong With Kids Campaign reflects this time of uncertainty and dramatic change in
the world right now. For children, the impact of being out of school, not being able to meet with
friends and family and their understanding of the challenges around them is elevating our
concerns about their well-being. It is a lot for them to face. But they don’t have to do it alone. We
know that what they really need right now is hope and connection.
This is why it is important that we stand together with children to let them know that they matter.
By donating to Future Possibilities for Kids, you are supporting our continued efforts to keep
children connected and hopeful about the future. With support from encouraging people, like
their KidCoach in the Ready, Set, Goal! program, they will know that they are being heard, that
others care about them, and that they can still make a meaningful difference in their
communities. By standing strong with Kids, you can support them through this time and in
standing up for what is right!”
Why This is Important
In the end, the middle years can be challenging! Children may have limited resources and may only have access to what is available in their community. They don’t have the financial flexibility to make their own decision and can be surrounded by the same crowd. This can lead to tough situations where kids may face bullying and social pressures from their peers. Therefore, organizations such as FPK are important to provide free support and encouragement during these time periods. We help them build resilience and teach them how to handle rejection in a safe space. We listen to their ideas and help them be stronger
