Spread the love

What an honour to feature this lovely couple’s long-distance story. My favorite part of their story is their romantic first meeting.

Tell us your long-distance relationship story. How did you meet your partner, Michael?

Hi! I’m Makayla and my partner is Michael.

Michael is from NYC and I’m from a small town in Kentucky. He is Chinese & I am African American, Filipino and Caucasian. We met through Instagram and I love that Michael has such a big heart, super patient, and very understanding.

What are some of your favourite memories together?

The first day we met, we danced through the lit-up city of Cincinnati at night. One Last Breathe started playing from someone’s car and we both just looked at each other and started belting out singing.

What is the hardest part of your relationship

I think the distance, of course. The distance has some pros but it definitely serves its cons as well. Like our ways of communicating.

No one ever said love was easy. We do the most to make sure there is effort from both sides. Working things out TOGETHER is very important.

What have you learned from your relationship?

Michael has given me the ability to see hope in things again. Sometimes that side of you gets lost. But he brought it back.

How do you keep your relationship interesting?

To be honest, I think it’s all about the personality. Me and michael could go for hours without speaking and then randomly FaceTime each other and break out in laughter. But zooming every once in a while definitely keeps us entertained!

What are you looking forward to?

I hope that one day I will be able to move to NYC with Michael. That is both of our goals as of right now.

What is important for a strong relationship?

Being a good listener, and always giving immense effort to understand from each others POV.

What advice do you have for other couples?

Try not to lose faith when there’s a bumpy road. Of course, it’s important to do what’s best for yourself but you never know if you’re really letting go of something great, just because it got a little too hard.

Keep yourself together, it’ll be worth it in the end.
